Flax (Linum usitatissimum) originally from Asia was cultivated several centuries BC for its fibers and oil. As its name indicates, many products were obtained from this plant such as oil (the richest in Omega 3 of vegetable oils), soap, paint, poultices or herbal teas. Its pretty flowering lasts about a month, but the flower itself only opens in the morning and fades in the afternoon. Seeds soaked and eaten whole facilitate intestinal transit. Use: only cold! Salads, Budwig cream, sauces for dips.
